State Commission On Information Security Headquarters

The State Commission on Information Security (SCIS) commissioned a new, state-of-the-art headquarters in Sofia, as an existing building on the “Tzarigradsko shose” boulevard was to undergo a significant transformation. The project involved the reconstruction of a building with a complex and outdated pretensioned concrete panel construction, aimed to create a modern and stylish space that meets the specific functional requirements of the specialised agency.

The existing building presented a unique design challenge due to its dated construction methods and the need to accommodate the SCIS's stringent security requirements. The design team, however, saw this as an opportunity to create a landmark structure that would not only meet the agency's needs but also will enhance the cityscape.

The team's approach focused on minimalism, utilising modern materials and systems to create a sleek and functional aesthetic. The building's exterior features clean lines and a simple color palette, while the interior is designed to use natural light and to create a welcoming environment for employees and visitors.

Given the sensitive nature of the SCIS's work, the new headquarters incorporates a range of security features. These include secure and restricted access points with multiple layers of authentication, state-of-the-art surveillance systems, and dedicated areas for sensitive data storage and processing.

The building also features flexible and adaptable workspaces to accommodate the evolving needs of the SCIS, as well as conference rooms and meeting spaces equipped with advanced audio-visual and communication technology.Emergency response systems and backup power sources ensure continuous operation during crises.

The new SCIS headquarters is more than just a functional building. It serves as a symbol of Bulgaria's commitment to information security and technological progress, showcasing the country's ability to adapt and innovate in a rapidly changing world.
