Pilot Prison, Training center and Halfway house

The CONCEPT DESIGN FOR PILOT PRISON,TRAINING CENTER AND HALF WAY HOUSE IN SAMORANOVO designates two zones, regarding the level of security and surveillance for the safety of employees and visitors, on the site of the former military base.

The halfway house accommodates inmates at the end of their sentence period in order to help the adaptation process to life outside the prison. It is a dormitory-like structure with single cells and shared recreational areas like kitchen, dining room, living room, etc.

The main entrance of the Educational center is from the main pedestrian alley and the adjacent parking space form northeast through carousel door. After the main entrance follows the large atrium nested between the volume of the multifunctional hall to the East and the training and administrative volume to the South. Next to the entrance is situated a museum of the penitentiary system in Bulgaria.The multifunctional hall allows to be divided into two separate rooms for different activities.

The main functional accent of the second level is the large AUDITORIUM with wonderful view towards the mountain, through the glazed east facade.Access to the AUDITORIUM is provided by open interior staircase in the Northeast part of the atrium, the lift and the closed staircase. From the AUDITORIUM the visitors can access the open terrace to the east. There is a visitor’s wardrobe and storage area in the foyer of the auditorium hall.
