Rozhen NAO

A concept design for a new Visitor and Scientific Center for the National Astronomic Observatory in Rozhen.

The high altitude mountain location is a year long challenge for the residents and visitors of the complex. That fact together with the needed spaces for science and visitors information provoked our design approach.

Large common interior space for meeting and communication between scientists and visitors alike connected to the residential units and hotel spaces, all sheltered beneath a roof-like outer shell, leaving the elements outside, providing comfort and allowing communication and interaction with nature and the beautiful view.
